Some Christian clerics from the Northern part of Nigeria have announced plans to hold a one-million-man prayer rally for an All Progressives Congress party presidential aspirant and former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu.

The group led by one Bishop Sunday Garuba said the move is divine.

In a statement on Tuesday, Garuba stated that Tinubu’s ambitions may ultimately collapse if not given the necessary spiritual support.

Saraki Hails Nigerians For Raising N40m For His Presidential Ambition

 

 

Former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has revealed that the sum of N40 million has been raised by concerned Nigerians for his Presidential and Nomination forms.

The former governor of Kwara State made this known in a post on Facebook on Tuesday.

This is as he revealed that he’s now ready to fight twice as hard due to the contributions made by a group of professionals towards his presidential ambition.

#EndSARS: Reopening Lekki tollgate inevitable, Lagos govt says

The Lagos State Government, on Wednesday, said it was inevitable to reopen the Lekki tollgate as the Lekki Concession Company, which is in charge of the tollgate, has debts worth billions of naira to pay to both local and foreign lenders and investors.

Speaking on Arise TV’s The Morning Show, on Wednesday, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said the LCC owes local lenders about N11.6bn and foreign lenders $31.1m.

The tollgate began operations in 2011 with the LCC charging users of the Lekki-Epe expressway a toll fee in spite of resistance and protests from Lekki residents.

The tollgate was, however, shut down, together with the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, following the October 2020 #EndSARS protests, which saw men of the Nigerian Army open fire on unarmed, flag-bearing protesters at the toll plaza.

The LCC announced, on Monday, that tolling activities would resume on April 1.

Omotoso said the reopening of the Lekki tollgate was coming after engagement and encouragement from the residents’ association of the area, transporters, and traditional rulers, adding that there won’t be “any resistance at all.”

An Osun State High Court has refused the bail applications of Rahman Adedoyin, the Chairman of Hilton Hotel and Resorts and founder of Oduduwa University.

Adedoyin and six others are being prosecuted for allegedly murdering a postgraduate student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Timothy Adegoke.

Delivering the ruling on Monday morning, the Osun State Chief Justice, Justice Adepele Ojo declined to grant the application on health grounds, as filed by the counsel for the defendant, Kunle Adegoke.

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command on Monday have arrested the driver of a Bus Rapid Transit who drove murdered 22-year-old Oluwabamise Ayanwole, The PUNCH has learned.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adekunle Ajisebutu, made this known in a chat, even as he confirmed that the dead body of the lady has been found.

The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has been arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja, on eight counts bordering on conspiracy, obstruction, and dealing in cocaine, and other related offences.

The JH had reported last week that eight charges were filed against Abba Kyari, and six others over their involvement in alleged drug trafficking.

The other defendants in the charge marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022, are four members of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Sunday J. Ubia, Bawa James, Simon Agirigba and John Nuhu.

Oluwabamise Ayanwola, a 22-year-old lady, who was declared missing last week after boarding a Bus Rapid Transit vehicle from the Ajah area of Lagos to Oshodi, has been found dead.

A relative of the victim named Anyanwola confirmed the development on Monday afternoon.

“We are at the morgue. We have confirmed the corpse.

“An autopsy will be carried out to confirm if any part of her body is missing,” he said.

The young lady went missing on February 26, 2022, after she boarded a BRT with number 240257 heading to Oshodi at about 7:30 pm to see her sister-in-law, who was said to be in labour.

The fashion designer was said to have become suspicious when the driver of the bus told her to sit at the back despite being the only one in the vehicle.

“When she entered the BRT bus, it was only her, and there was no light inside the bus. She had felt safe inside the BRT since it is a popular state bus, but she wondered why it was only her that was in the bus
