[Breaking] Missing Ondo Church Boy: Appeal Court frees Prophet Sotitobire

There was jubilation at the premises of the Court of Appeal in Akure by members of Sotitobire Praising Chapel as the church’s founder, Prophet Babatunde Alfa was set freed two years after he was taken into custody.
Prophet Alfa and five other members of the church were arrested in 2019 over the mysterious disappearance of a 13-month-old boy, Gold Kolawole, from his church.
They were arraigned on two count charges of conspiracy, aiding and abetting kidnapping.
Last year, Prophet Alfa and the five church workers were sentenced to seven years imprisonment on count one, which bothered on conspiracy to commit felony to with aiding and abetting kidnapping and life imprisonment on count two bothering on aiding and abetting kidnapping contrary to and punishable under the Section 5 of the Ondo State Anti-kidnapping and Anti-Abduction law 2010.
One of the accused persons, Peter Anjorin, was discharged and acquitted for lack of substantial evidence from the prosecution.

Finally, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal K1 DE Ultimate, and his beautiful partner, Emmanuella Ropo, have married in Abeokuta today.
The wedding which was well attended by socialites and friends of the couple took place despite threats from friends of his wife, Titi Masha who have vowed to ruin the relationship between Emmanuella and the Fuji crooner. They stated that they would go to any extent to ensure the wedding does not take place. Unfortunately, they were not able to make good their threat as friends, family, royal dignitaries, socialites, business moguls all gathered to serenade the couple on their special day.
Held amidst tight security and flamboyance, many guests adhered to the color code of the day by adorning pink lace, pink headgear, and ipele for the women while the men wore white agbada and pink cap. Those who couldn’t stick to the dress code ensured they used the headgear and ipele.
The event started with a customary wedding which was followed closely by a Nikkai ceremony and a reception thereafter. The couple wore a white ensemble for their Nikkai ceremony before changing into a more elaborate cloth for the reception. The bride wore Damask wrapper and headgear with pink lace while the groom had a brown agbada and Damask cap on at the reception.
Emmanuella who was practicing Christian before meeting K1 de Ultimate was given the opportunity to continue practicing her religion. He however gave her an Islamic name while the Nikkai ceremony was going on. She was named Nana Baliqis by her husband. Gunmen suspected to be bandits have shot dead a UK-based Nigerian woman, who returned to the country for her mother's burial, along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
She was said to have been killed in the presence of her children.

IPOB Disowns Nnamdi Kanu’s Finland-Based Disciple, Simon Ekpa
In a statement dated August 21, 2021, and signed by Anthony Obasi and Chika Madu, National Coordinator and National Secretary of IPOB Finland respectively, the group disclosed that Ekpa is not a registered member of the group in Finland
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said Simon Ekpa, the self-acclaimed Finland-based disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, is not a member of the group.

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against President Muhammadu Buhari over his failure to probe allegations of missing N106 billion from 149 ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
According to SERAP in a statement signed by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare on Sunday, the suit was also filed against Buhari over his failure to “ensure the prosecution of those suspected to be responsible and the recovery of any missing public funds”.
The suit followed the grim allegations by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation in his 2018 annual audited report that N105,662,350,077.46 of public funds are missing, misappropriated, or unaccounted for across 149 MDAs.

There was palpable tension between residents of Ile-Ife and Modakeke of Osun State on Friday, following the killing of five farmers from Modakeke along Toro Road in the early hours of the day.
The five victims, all male, were found dead on the road to Toro village, where they reportedly had farms.

Igboho’s extradition: Buratai pushes move, activist’s team meets Benin’s officials, fights process

Facts on Tuesday emerged about how Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Benin Republic, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.), was instrumental in the arrest of the Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho.
A top security source in the Benin Republic confided in The PUNCH that the former Chief of Army Staff wrote the government of the small West African country and insisted on the arrest and extradition of Igboho.
It was gathered that Buratai was at the forefront of the ongoing move to extradite the activist.
A few hours after Igboho’s arrest on Monday, his Beninese lawyers and other experts met with some Benin Republic government officials and called for the halting of his extradition.
Buratai, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff between July 2015 and January 2021, was deployed as Nigeria’s envoy in the Benin Republic in June 2021.
Before then, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), had presented Buratai’s nomination to the Senate and the upper chamber of the National Assembly had confirmed the ex-COAS’ nomination despite public outcry of some crimes against humanity allegedly committed by the Nigerian Army under Buratai’s leadership.

Aare Ona Kankanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has stated that the attempt by the Federal Government to criminalise the case of Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popular known as Sunday Igboho, is undemocratic.
This was contained in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, where Adams expressed sadness over the way the Igboho was arrested.
According to him, the plan by the FG to clamp down agitators is undemocratic and can make the government an enemy to the people.
“Igboho’s case is gradually exposing FG’s plan to clamp down on all agitators and that is undemocratic, and also capable of turning government to tyranny of the majority, especially, from a government that came to power with a lot of hope and support from the people of the South-West,” Adams opined.

Caution Your Talkative Followers So That They Won’t Put You Into Trouble
Otunba Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland has pleaded with traditional rulers and political leaders in Yorubaland to forgive embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho.
Adams, who criticised Igboho for using wrong methods to demand self-determination, said the political enforcer was focused on propaganda instead of engaging traditional rulers peacefully.
He also advised him to caution his ‘talkative followers’ whom he described as agents of a politician in Lagos.
“Most of Sunday Igboho’s methods are wrong. I told him that his methods are wrong.
“But God has used him in the agitation for Yoruba Nation. He has played his own role and he will still play more roles. We should not let him be killed or persecuted.
“He should caution his talkative followers so that they won’t put him into trouble. I told him some time ago that those people surrounding him are agents of a politician in Lagos.
“I told him it is better to train your trusted soldiers than to hire mercenaries who will later go for the highest bidder” Adams said.

Any day, a cow in a china shop is a recipe for disaster. Anyway, it’s also a metaphor for Nigeria.
Anywhere, a cow never frolics in a china shop, except in a great-little country like ours, Nigeria, where it lounges in a china shop; lolling its big horns, swaying its brisk tail and clattering its rugged hooves to the noise of crashing china while the President of the shop watches in sadistic silence.
Anytime, the mother cow and its male, the bull, should be in a ranch, mooing and munching mounds of hay, living each day in contented confinement, happy that they have everything – fodder, fun and fur – long before the stainless knife comes along to close their eyes in death. The cattle are unlike the average Nigerian, who’s bereft of everything: hope, dignity and prosperity, except the skin on his body.
It’s animal cruelty to lead wretched cows, bulls and their innocent calves over one thousand kilometres along the forests, on foot, from Daura through Ilorin to Ore, Sapele, Afikpo, Opobo – in an age-long practice – demeaning in nature and tragic in logic.
It’s sheer stupidity for a government to insist on establishing grazing routes for nomads in the 21st Century when a country like the US has over 31 million beef cows in cattle farms and ranches spread across its 50 states. Why are President Buhari and his Fulani caste afraid of ranching? I do not know.
Though cattle can see. Sadly, they can’t talk. They can see the ill-treatment nomads mete out to them, making them trek in sun and rain, day and night – in pregnancy, infancy, sickness and old age.
If only cattle could talk, they would say, “Moo, Mr Foolish, you don’t need to trek uncountable miles in the wilderness to raise beef. The more you make us trek, the more weight we lose, the more our meat loses nutrients, and the more susceptible we are to diseases, sicknesses and death.

Nigerians have stormed actress, Faithia Balogun, now known as Faithia William’s page to rain curses on her over Yomi Fabiyi’s controversial movie, Oko Iyabo, despite not being featured in the movie.
Recall that Baba Ijesha was arrested by the police in April for alleged sexual assault of the 14-year-old foster daughter of comedienne, Princess.
Fabiyi had organised a protest against the detention of Baba Ijesha and expressed readiness to stand as his surety.
The movie is produced by the actor, Fabiyi and also directed by Dele Matti.

Thirty-six-year-old Rahmon Azeez was full of life on Wednesday and nothing suggested that death loomed. Saturday PUNCH learned that he just got a visa to travel to the United States of America to see his wife and twins, who he had never carried physically since they were born abroad. He arranged for his wife to travel to the US where she delivered the babies. But his hope of reuniting with his wife and children was cut short.
Our correspondent gathered that the deceased recently bought a Toyota Camry and drove the car to the Iwo Road Shopping Complex in Ibadan, Oyo State, built by his mother popularly known as Mama Ahmed. However, on getting to the spot, the entrance was said to have been blocked by commercial bus drivers dropping and picking passengers despite the place not designated as a bus stop.
He was said to have asked the drivers to leave the entrance to allow customers and visitors to the complex to access the building. But his speech, it was gathered, reportedly resulted in an altercation. The drivers were said to have reported him to the park managers who were accused of swooping on the young man and dealt him blows and slaps.

The Ooni of Ife, Yoruba’s foremost traditional ruler, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, is presently embroiled in a real estate mega fraud after some of his companies allocated apartments and land that existed only on paper to hundreds of investors.
Apart from the revelation that hundreds of investors were never refunded after several years, the housing scheme, Gran Imperio Group’s multi-million-naira Essential Homes, has been described by many as the biggest fraud seen yet in Nigeria’s real estate history.
According to a report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism, Oba Ogunwusi and his companies have swindled a lot of housing investors and buyers to the tune of hundreds of millions of naira, as the king appeared to be above the law.
In October 2014, Mrs Offiong (not real name) received some documents from Metropole Interproject Limited introducing the sale of a “one unit of three-bedroom corner piece bungalow apartment at South Pointe II Estate” at Ajah, Lagos, for N17,967,000 million. She was instructed to pay 50 percent of the cost if she accepted the offer.
Retiring at the top cadre in the civil service after 30 years, she did not hesitate to invest her gratuity because the supposed estate was in a prime location: the building’s specifications and the estate’s facilities as stated in the contract looked top notch; the delivery date was less than a year away in August 2015.

Can you shed more light on what you mean by you losing everything after your marriage break up?
When we were together, there are lots of things that happened, like we share lots of things together. Then as an actor, I also work as a clearing agent, sometimes, if I get a job maybe through Princess or any other person, I have to give her, her own percentage and what I mean by saying I lost everything, was the fact that when I was married, I couldn’t do anything, there was no time for one to even go to location, I was always indoor, I mean after the marriage break up, people started mocking me, so I was to shy to go out, and it was really bad because lots of them never supported my getting married to Princess, at the first place. Saying the marriage will not work.
What were the reasons why they didn’t support you?
Maybe they know her more than I do but I thought everything will change for good. We are from different background, and even when I started complaining, I was advised to be patient, that things will change for good. It was later that I realised that what my colleagues and senior colleagues were saying, I could not control her was actually true, so when we broke up, I couldn’t even go back to my family, location, I was just all by myself.

An Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi, on Tuesday urged the government not to take the threat by the kidnappers of students of Greenfield University, Kaduna lightly.
Gumi, who stated this in an interview with The PUNCH, said the Central Bank of Nigeria should pay the N100m ransom being demanded by the kidnappers of the students.
He made the call as a parent of one of the abductees lamented that the kidnappers were insisting on a ransom of N100m.
The parent, who spoke to one of our correspondents in Kaduna on condition of anonymity, lamented that the bandits were still insisting on their demands and threatening to kill the students.
No fewer than 23 students and a member of staff of the university were abducted from the school on April 20, 2021. A few days later, five of the students were killed by the bandits.
On Monday, one of the bandits, Sani Jalingo, in an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America, demanded N100m and 10 motorcycles for the students to be freed.
He threatened that the failure of the Kaduna State Government or families of the students to meet the
