Our Obas are the custodian of our culture. The Obas are supposed to be close to the people at the grassroot, they are expected to understand the concerns of the people and redress it or table it with the goverment or concerned goverment agency. The position of the Ooni of Ife in Yoruba tradition cannot be undermined as he is seen as a representative of Oduduwa, the father of the Yoruba race. As we all know, Ile-Ife is believed to be the cradle of Yoruba land.
When His imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II ascended the throne of his ancestors as the Ooni of Ile Ife, he said one of his priorities is to vigorously pursue the peace and unity of Yoruba people during his reign. That was when we saw him visit the Alaafin of Oyo to mend fences and over the years we saw him at various peace meetings and how he has been instrumental in brokering peace between other traditional rulers, religions and communities. At one of the functions he attended after his ascension, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi called for national peace, unity and tranquility, saying they are the pillars needed to strengthen Nigeria’s bid for socio-economic development.
However, with the recent happenings on Facebook and the feelers we are getting, can it be said that His Imperial Majesty is still pursuing this peace for all Yorubas or he has abandoned what he called one of his top priorities? While I agree that the position of an Oba is sacred and should be accorded respect, I believe that they should expect and be open to criticism, and apply it to improve themselves. The criticism should however be constructive and personal verbal attacks and vituperations should be avoided as much as possible. Regardless of this, an Oba that doesn't want to be criticised should do it right.
Like I asked earlier, with the recent happenings on Facebook and how a particular killer gang called Omo Aye led by the notorious bully called Tolulope Basirat Adeoye aka Abike Jagaban Fejewe has been hiding under the umbrella of the Ooni of Ile Ife and using his name to perpetrate evil, attack people physically and promote disunity, hatred and violence without restraint, can it be said that the Ooni is still in pursuit of what he called one of his top priorities which is to bring peace to the Yorubas?
In the attached video, you can hear how a member of the killer gang led by Abike Jagaban lamented how she contributed a certain amount for Jamo guys to attack and maim Esabod and it was not carried out and how so much she wanted Esabod to die. This audio was sent by this individual into a secret group owned by Abike in 2018. In the latter part of the audio which was a show she did after she was exposed in September 2019, the reason she gave for paying for Esabod to be attacked was because Esabod was abusing the Oba of her hometown, the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. Now, let me tell you more about this individual that paid for Esabod to be maimed and possibly killed. Her name is Fausat Ademola and she is an indigene of Ile Ife. Her late father, Chief Ismaila Ademola Adeesho was the otun asipa of Ifetedo land, the Are of owode plank market in Ile-Ife and her brothers, most especially one called Sheriff Ademola is close to the Ooni's palace.
There are many more indigenes and chiefs of Ile-Ife that I know who are hiding under Abike to attack people. The Ekejo Iyalode of Ile Ife, Yeye Bolatito Akanke Phebian Olaobaju is a member of this killer gang that has been destroying lives and carrying out violent attacks on Esabod and others. Abike herself has claimed in a number of her videos that she is working for Ooni. Now tell me, can we say it was Ooni who sent Fausat Ademola to send Jamo guys after Esabod? I seriously doubt that and that was why I said in my last post that I doubt that Ooni has any direct interaction with Abike.
However, the Ooni needs to call his subjects who are using Abike to attack people and giving them the impression that she is acting under his authority to order. Ooni needs to distance himself from all what may be seen as him enabling attacks on people by this bully whose eruption on Facebook can be traced to the malicious audios she did for her friend and her baby and has continued to defame and destroy people throughout her existence on facebook. This same person sent thugs to attack a 4 month old pregnant lady in Nigeria and the lady lost her pregnancy, she curses children daily, goes after people's lives and claims she is representing Ooni. Or do her actions represent what His Imperial Majesty Oba Ogunwusi stands for?
A lot of people who are not even in any group or involved in Ooni's case are aggrieved that this notorious bully and life destroyer continues to use the name of Ooni to attack other people and justify her own evil actions. Ooni has taken Esabod to court and got an injunction, so be it, even though I believe that the Oba Ogunwusi as a representative of Oduduwa the father of all yorubas could have employed other means to tackle this since he said he is pursuing peace for all Yorubas. But what do we say to Abike who keeps on coming out to use the Ooni's name to provoke the other person simply because the other person has been stopped from mentioning Ooni's name? When and how did a murderer and terrorist become the spokesperson for the sacred throne of Ooni of Ife? What do we say to how Abike has been using Ooni's name to terrorise people with the assistance of some unscrupulous people who are close to the palace? Is that right? Does this foster peace?
